School Council & OneVoice

School Council

Our School Council is democratically elected at the beginning of each academic year and is made up of one boy and one girl from each class. The Council works collaboratively to promote a positive, safe, and supportive school environment, while also seeking opportunities to further enhance school life for all pupils.

In addition to their role within school, the Council maintains a strong focus on community engagement and fundraising. Recent activities include:

  • Presenting information to their classes about Children in Need and explaining the importance of the fundraising efforts.
  • Organising a Reverse Advent Calendar in partnership with the local Food Bank, collecting donations which were delivered by councillors from Years 3 and 4.
  • Planning an upcoming fundraising event in support of Comic Relief in March.

One Voice Committee

Our One Voice Committee is made up of pupils from Key Stage 2 who are committed to representing the views of their peers and contributing positively to school life. The committee meets once every half term in school and also attends trust-wide events, where pupils collaborate with representatives from other schools within the trust. Our Oakmeadow One Voice members represent the school with pride and demonstrate a strong commitment to helping improve our community.

Current Focus: Sustainability and Community

The committee is currently working on a range of initiatives linked to sustainability and community engagement, including:

  • Ensuring that food waste continues to be composted effectively.
  • Harvesting vegetables and planting additional crops within the school allotment area.
  • Planning and preparing an assembly to help the whole school understand and engage with the project.
