Welcome to Owls Class

We are supported by Mr Bocian and Miss Page. In Owls class, we believe children thrive in an environment filled with creativity, kindness and curiosity. We aim high, but we make sure every day is full of joy and discovery! Our timetable is carefully designed so that learning flows across the curriculum, giving pupils rich opportunities to deepen what they already know while confidently exploring new skills.

Each morning in Owls class begins with our English learning. Sometimes we dive into a key text that guides us through the term; other times we focus on specific grammar skills in standalone lessons. Spelling and reading are woven into our daily routine, helping children strengthen and apply the skills they’re developing in English.

After break, we launch into maths with a fun and focused ‘Mastery Number’ starter before exploring a range of mathematical topics. Pupils can then build on this learning using Times Table Rock Stars in our fantastic computing suite.

As a church school, worship is an important part of our day. This may take place as a whole school or within our class community. Whole school worship brings us together to share our faith and celebrate our core values: love, respect, faith, fellowship and thankfulness. Once each term, Owls class leads worship for the school, using stories, prayers and reflection to explore meaningful themes.

Our curriculum is broad, exciting and full of variety. Children learn through subjects such as geography, science, history, RE, D&T, PSHE and computing. Alongside our weekly PE lessons, we encourage pupils to stay active outdoors by completing a daily ‘Fit 15’ on our track. We also enjoy whole-class reading sessions, using books that link to our English or reading focus.

Snack and lunchtime offer valuable social moments. Children can enjoy a healthy fruit snack or plain biscuit at break, and at lunchtime they choose between a hot school meal or a packed lunch from home. These shared times help pupils develop important social and life skills.
