We are supported by Mrs Davis, Mrs Williams and Mrs Bennett. In Bumblebees Class, we believe in nurturing the whole child through meaningful, play-based experiences. Children learn best when they are actively engaged in hands-on, enjoyable activities that spark curiosity and creativity. Our daily routine is carefully designed so that structured learning is complemented by opportunities for child-led exploration, allowing children to apply and deepen their understanding in ways that matter to them.
We encourage collaboration, imagination, and independence at every stage, fostering a love of learning that goes beyond the classroom. Outdoor learning is a key part of our approach, helping children develop confidence, resilience, and a strong connection with the natural world. Through play, we aim to inspire lifelong learners who are curious, capable, and confident.
Each day begins with linked provision, offering activities aligned with Development Matters to help children settle, complete morning tasks, and engage in purposeful play. Following this, we transition to adult-directed sessions, starting with a Makaton song and talk time.
Our structured learning includes:
Children enjoy two extended play sessions designed to support holistic development. In the morning, they access indoor and outdoor continuous provision. Afternoon sessions incorporate topic-based enhancements and objective-led interactions informed by Development Matters and Birth to 5 Matters, ensuring assessment-driven, engaging, and challenging experiences.
We conclude each day with a Cosy Club story to foster language development, comprehension, and a love of reading. Throughout all activities, our school values and learning characteristics are consistently promoted.
This term, our focus is on the theme ‘People Who Help Us’. Through this topic, children will explore a wide range of professions and develop a deeper understanding of the roles people play in our community and society. We aim to help children appreciate how these individuals contribute to our everyday lives and inspire them to think about the importance of helping others.
To support this learning, we will use the engaging text ‘Look Inside Jobs’ as a starting point to discover the variety of careers and responsibilities that exist. Building on this, we will enrich the experience by inviting the children’s family members into school to share their stories and experiences. We aim to showcase a range of professions to inspire our children to the opportunities beyond school. These real-life interactions will provide meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that spark curiosity and encourage children to ask questions.
Throughout the topic, we will integrate creative activities, role play, and outdoor learning to ensure children can apply their knowledge in playful, practical ways. Our goal is to nurture empathy, respect, and an understanding of the world around them, while promoting key skills such as communication, problem-solving, and collaboration.
