Excitingly, we are encouraging all children, staff and families connected to Oakmeadow Primary and Nursery School to come along together to Shrewsbury Junior parkrun on Sunday 15th March 🏃♀️🏃♂️
It will be a brilliant opportunity to walk, jog, run or volunteer alongside friends and familiar faces, and to enjoy being active together in our community. Junior parkrun is all about fun, encouragement and taking part, whatever pace you choose.
📍 Event details Address: Doctor’s Monument, near Stop Café, Shrewsbury
🕘 Arrive at 8.45am for a 9am start, including a fun warm‑up
We would love to see as many Oakmeadow families as possible joining us for a fantastic morning of movement and smiles 🌟
This International Women’s Day, we were proud to hear from Niki McGarvey, MATi and Outreach Specialist Advisor, as she shared her reflections on this year’s theme of giving to gain.
When we give opportunity, encouragement and respect, we gain stronger communities, fairer workplaces and brighter futures. Every time we listen, support and open doors for women and girls, progress follows. Equality is not something we lose by sharing, it is something we all gain.
Today, and every day, we choose action, kindness and collaboration, because when women thrive, everyone thrives.

As part of our ongoing Climate Action Plan at Oakmeadow, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging sustainable habits across our whole school community.
To help spread this important message, we are inviting our children to design eye catching and creative posters to display around the school. All children are welcome to take part.
The deadline for entries is Friday 20 March. Two winning designs will be selected and announced the following week, with prizes for each winner. The winning posters will be displayed in key areas across the school.
We cannot wait to see the fantastic ideas and creativity from our children. Families can support this initiative by talking about energy saving at home too.

We had a brilliant time celebrating World Book Day. Reading is such an important part of life at our school, and the day gave everyone the perfect opportunity to share favourite stories with friends.
It was also lovely to see our staff getting involved too, helping to make the day even more memorable and showing just how much we all value reading together.
Take a look at some of the highlights from the day and follow us to see more of the learning and fun happening across our school.

Fun in the sun on day 3 at Arthog! Canoeing, rock climbing, mountain walking to take in the fabulous views, and a spot of raft building...although Mr Weaver doesn't look overly reassured with their construction techniques! 🤔😂 🛶 ... See MoreSee Less
