Our lovely Mrs Meehan brought a very special visitor in to meet us 🧸
We loved meeting Benji, her 90‑year‑old bear, as we have been learning about old toys and reading Threadbear by Mick Inkpen. Benji certainly looked a little threadbare, but he had clearly been very well loved. Mrs Meehan told us how his fur is thinner in places where he has been held and cuddled over the years.
We noticed his button eyes and his knitted waistcoat, made to keep him warm, and talked about how toys can hold so many memories. It was a wonderful, gentle way to bring our learning to life and spark lots of thoughtful conversations.

As part of Science Week, Hawks class investigated what makes the best bubble 🧪
The children explored different mixtures, changing just one ingredient each time to see which would create the longest‑lasting bubble. They made predictions first, then tested their ideas carefully and observed the results together.
The winning mixture was the one with the most sugar, creating a bubble that stuck to the floor for almost two minutes. The children were fascinated by the results and loved seeing science in action.
A brilliant investigation filled with curiosity, teamwork and excitement.
We had a fantastic time at Young Voices 2026. The snow may have postponed our original concert, but the wait was absolutely worth it ❄️🎤
Our children sang and danced the night away, filling the arena with energy, confidence and huge smiles. The fun did not even stop there, with some still singing happily on the coach journey home.
An unforgettable experience and such a proud moment for everyone involved. Well done to all our amazing singers.
This Mother’s Day, we want to take a moment to recognise all the love, care and support that surrounds our children in so many different ways.
Today is a celebration of mums, step‑mums, grandmas, carers, aunties and all the special people who nurture, encourage and champion our children every day. We also hold space for those for whom today may feel difficult, including anyone missing a mum, those who wish to be mums, or families who mark today in their own quiet way.
To every family in our school community, thank you for the kindness, patience and love you give 🌷

This International Women’s Day, we were proud to hear from Niki McGarvey, MATi and Outreach Specialist Advisor, as she shared her reflections on this year’s theme of giving to gain.
When we give opportunity, encouragement and respect, we gain stronger communities, fairer workplaces and brighter futures. Every time we listen, support and open doors for women and girls, progress follows. Equality is not something we lose by sharing, it is something we all gain.
Today, and every day, we choose action, kindness and collaboration, because when women thrive, everyone thrives.

As part of our ongoing Climate Action Plan at Oakmeadow, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging sustainable habits across our whole school community.
To help spread this important message, we are inviting our children to design eye catching and creative posters to display around the school. All children are welcome to take part.
The deadline for entries is Friday 20 March. Two winning designs will be selected and announced the following week, with prizes for each winner. The winning posters will be displayed in key areas across the school.
We cannot wait to see the fantastic ideas and creativity from our children. Families can support this initiative by talking about energy saving at home too.
