Our Reception children had a wonderful visit to Bayston Hill Library. 📚

They listened beautifully to a story read by the librarian and enjoyed exploring the wide range of books on offer. Some children even borrowed books using their own library cards from home which was lovely to see. 😊

It was a brilliant opportunity to grow their love of reading and discover new stories together. 🌟

Last week our Year 5 children took part in a fantastic Viking workshop that truly brought their history learning to life. They explored a wide range of Viking artefacts including tools, buckles, coins and everyday household objects, working together to uncover what each item might have been used for.

The children also enjoyed hands-on activities such as trying on replica Viking armour and helmets. A real highlight was the shield wall and spear drill where they learned how Vikings worked together in battle formations. There was plenty of excitement as they acted out battle scenes and discovered more about Viking life, culture and craftsmanship.

Our lovely Mrs Meehan brought a very special visitor in to meet us 🧸

We loved meeting Benji, her 90‑year‑old bear, as we have been learning about old toys and reading Threadbear by Mick Inkpen. Benji certainly looked a little threadbare, but he had clearly been very well loved. Mrs Meehan told us how his fur is thinner in places where he has been held and cuddled over the years.

We noticed his button eyes and his knitted waistcoat, made to keep him warm, and talked about how toys can hold so many memories. It was a wonderful, gentle way to bring our learning to life and spark lots of thoughtful conversations.

As part of Science Week, Hawks class investigated what makes the best bubble 🧪

The children explored different mixtures, changing just one ingredient each time to see which would create the longest‑lasting bubble. They made predictions first, then tested their ideas carefully and observed the results together.

The winning mixture was the one with the most sugar, creating a bubble that stuck to the floor for almost two minutes. The children were fascinated by the results and loved seeing science in action.

A brilliant investigation filled with curiosity, teamwork and excitement.

We had a fantastic time at Young Voices 2026. The snow may have postponed our original concert, but the wait was absolutely worth it ❄️🎤

Our children sang and danced the night away, filling the arena with energy, confidence and huge smiles. The fun did not even stop there, with some still singing happily on the coach journey home.

An unforgettable experience and such a proud moment for everyone involved. Well done to all our amazing singers.

This Mother’s Day, we want to take a moment to recognise all the love, care and support that surrounds our children in so many different ways.

Today is a celebration of mums, step‑mums, grandmas, carers, aunties and all the special people who nurture, encourage and champion our children every day. We also hold space for those for whom today may feel difficult, including anyone missing a mum, those who wish to be mums, or families who mark today in their own quiet way.

To every family in our school community, thank you for the kindness, patience and love you give 🌷
