At Oakmeadow, our intent for Design and Technology is to deliver an inspiring and enriching curriculum that equips all learners with the knowledge, skills, and creativity needed to become confident designers, innovators, and problem-solvers. We aim to develop a deep understanding of the design process, promote imaginative thinking, and encourage sustainable and ethical decision-making, while nurturing effective collaboration. Our curriculum supports pupils in generating original ideas, developing technical knowledge through purposeful use of tools and materials, and applying scientific and mathematical understanding to real-world challenges. We teach pupils to think critically, analyse problems, and appreciate how thoughtful design can improve everyday life. Through opportunities to work collaboratively, communicate ideas clearly, and refine outcomes through evaluation, pupils learn to become reflective and resourceful. We also aim to instil an awareness of the environmental, social, and ethical impact of design, inspiring responsible, future-focused innovation.
