Welcome to Badgers Class

We are supported by Mr Menhenitt, Mrs Breeze and Miss Evans.   In Badgers class, we recognise that children learn best and thrive through a creative culture that is centred around being caring, kind and curious. We set high expectations for ourselves but also love to have fun! Our timetable is carefully designed so that learning flows across the curriculum, giving pupils rich opportunities to deepen what they already know while confidently exploring new skills to help them learn in school and beyond.

Each day usually begins with our English lessons. This can involve learning linked to a key text that we follow throughout a term or standalone lessons with a specific grammar focus. We incorporate spelling and reading lessons into our morning routine tsupport and embed the skills we are using in our English lessons. After break, we launch into maths with a ‘Mastery Number’ activity before diving into a variety of mathematical units. We provide opportunities for pupils to support and deepen their learning using both reasoning and problem-solving skills. We are also fortunate to have access to Times Table Rock Stars in our amazing computing suite which helps our pupils to secure their multiplication fluency.

As a church school, we have daily worship. This can be whole school or within class. Whole school worship allows us to celebrate our faith as a school family and to celebrate our school values: love, respect, faith, fellowship and thankfulness. We have the opportunity once per term to lead worship for the rest of the school – we explore themes through stories, with time for prayers and reflection too.

We also have a rich and varied curriculum that teaches our pupils a range of topics in subject areas such as geography, science, history, RE, D&T, RE, PSHE and computing. Alongside our weekly PE lessons, we also provide opportunities for children to get active outside by completing a ‘Fit 15’ on our track. We also enjoy completing whole class reading with a book that links to either our English or Reading lessons.

Snack and lunchtime: The children are asked to enjoy a healthy fruit snack or plain biscuit at break time. Lunch time provides opportunities for pupils to enjoy either a school hot dinner or a packed lunch from home. These experiences help the children to interact with each other in a social setting where life skills are developed.
