Mrs Griffiths

I came into teaching later than most having had a career as a criminal solicitor for 14 years. It was the birth of my youngest child, Alfie that made me reassess my life. He was born with a fused skull that required major surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital and will remain under their care until he is 10 years old. He is now a thriving 4 year old loving school life in EYFS. My other two children also go to Oakmeadow. It was Ellie’s determination to do something to say thank you to Birmingham Children’s Hospital that inspired me to have may head shaved to support her fundraising (hence the ‘dodgey do’ in my photo!)

I am often asked if I have any regrets about my career change, and I can honestly say no. It is a privilege to come to work with children who are all wonderful and inspiring in their own unique way. Working in Year 1 gives me the opportunity to watch the children blossom from the play based curriculum to little learners with an amazing capacity for progress. It is their passion for learning that makes me constantly strive to improve my own teaching.

The unrelenting support and consistency that Mrs Patterson gives us is invaluable and together we work to make a happy, exciting and inspiring learning environment for our children of whom we are immensely proud.
